Burke and Wills is based in South West London and has very good access to all London Boroughs, North and South of the river. Our residential removal division has it's own process of working which we have detailed below. We pride our selves in making the process of moving house as quick and easy as possible with the least amount of stress.
• Initial Enquiry
| We advise you to contact Burke & Wills as soon as you know that you are moving home, even if you don’t have an actual date confirmed. We will arrange an obligation free quotation where a removal surveyor will visit your home to undertake a site inspection and assess your individual needs. During this assessment we will happily give advice on the preparation that you need to do prior to your removal. We will also discuss the access to your new home and if necessary we will contact rural removal firms for relevant advice. This advice will make your removal easier. At this stage we welcome any questions or concerns that you may have. Your written quotation will be forwarded to you by email and post usually within 24 hours. Removal dates are not reserved at this stage. |

• Accepting your Quotation
Once you have received your quotation and wish to book your removal, please contact us immediately to confirm availability. Your acceptance form should be returned to us and payment made two weeks in advance of your removal. We accept payment by BACS, cheque, credit or debit card. Please feel free to contact us at any time prior to your removal if you have any concerns.
• Our preparation
Prior to your removal we will arrange any necessary parking suspensions with the relevant local authorities. We will also arrange, if required, elevator hoist, professional piano movers and safe movers. Special crates can be provided for high value or very delicate items. Our foremen and team will be briefed of your requirements.
• Your Removal Day

Our friendly and experienced team will arrive punctually at the agreed time. The foreman will introduce the team and receive any further instructions from you. Your home will quickly be made safe by removing breakables and pictures from walkways and protecting floors. If your removal involves more than one day, the foreman will ensure that you have prepared your overnight requirements so that your home will remain functional. Our team will then split up and pack their respective rooms. This phase is the critical part of your removal. Your possessions will be protectively wrapped, boxed and labelled. Our team is fully trained and experienced in packing expensive glass, china and antiques as well as everyday items. Hanging clothes will be packed straight into our garment boxes and sofas, armchairs and other soft furnishings protectively covered. Our staff will have the skills and tools required to disassemble furniture where required and unplumb white goods. Once all items are carefully packed and wrapped they will be safely and securely loaded onto our purpose built vehicles. Before leaving your old residence, the foreman will assist you with a thorough check to ensure nothing is left behind. |
| Upon arrival at your new home a brief inspection will take place to identify the rooms and locations for large items. Again floor protection will be provided where necessary. Our team will begin unloading as per your directions. At the completion of this phase all items of furniture and boxes will be correctly located and any furniture that we have disassembled will be reassembled with white goods replumbed. A final inspection will be made to ensure all large items are correctly placed as furniture can easily be re-shuffled at this stage. A refundable box deposit will be taken for packing boxes left with you and will be refunded upon there return. The foreman will request that you check our vehicles to assure yourself that nothing has been left on them. |  |
• Unpacking Service
If required an unpacking service can be provided, this usually takes place the day immediately after your removal. For this service to be successful we will need your guidance so that items, books and clothes etc are correctly placed in their respective locations. This service must be booked at the same time as your original booking.
• Questionnaire
At the completion of your move, we ask our clients to fill in a feedback questionnaire. We appreciate all your comments, good or bad, and we depend on your feedback to continually improve our service.
